The works of many of today’s greatest artists belong to the realm of multimedia.

The Multimedia program at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts has been designed to train young creatives to recognize, explore and develop their various talents and successfully combine them to make multimedia contributions to art and other related areas.

WHOM IS MULTIMEDIA PROGRAM INTENDED FOR?

To everyone with multiple talents and numerous interests, who find any single form too narrow to express their talent and imagination; to those who want to use painting, video, animation or some other avenue of their choice when the need arises, Multimedia will provide an avenue for creating contemporary, original art.

In other words, Multimedia has been designed for all creative individuals willing to develop their talents through exploring the boundaries between artistic disciplines, as well as between the arts and new technologies, nature, society…

Entrance exam preparation

Faculty of Contemporary Arts gives you a chance to prepare for the entrance exam free of charge in order to let your talent shine in the best possible way at the exam itself. The number of consultations with the teachers is not limited – make the most of them. Do not miss the chance to get expert advice and guidance from acclaimed artists.

Entrance exam

At the beginning of the entrance exam, the candidates introduce themselves and discuss their topics of interest. The candidate performs creative tasks selected in cooperation with the professor, related to one of the topics discussed, choosing two different media. The candidate must submit a portfolio (“map) with small format drawings, photographs or videos. The practical part of the entrance exam is followed by a 30-minute interview with the candidate, which includes an examination of the portfolio and the works created at the practical exam.

Duration: 1 day, 270 minutes, plus 30-minute interview

At all stages, the studies revolve around subjects that provide insight into the principles and norms of creating a multimedia work of art. Teaching is interactive, realized in the form of dialogue, individual and group consultations, debates, with special emphasis on research processes that lead towards establishing an authentic artistic expression for each student.

Along with studying the principles of multimedia creative process, the students attend regular practical and theoretical lessons at the faculty, thereby acquiring a thorough and comprehensive education in modern art.

What will you learn?

Knowledge and skills necessary in order to become a multimedia artist are comprehensive and varied. This is why you will be fully capable of authentic artistic expression upon graduation from FCA. You will learn:

  • how to conceive, set up and realize complex art installations;
  • how to express yourself creatively using drawing, painting, sculpting;
  • how to artistically explore and utilize modern technologies: video, animation, 3D modeling, video games and digital media;
  • how to combine sound, image and text into a unified, distinctive work of art;
  • how to utilize various talents and articulate your creativity through synergy of different art forms.

CONTEMPORARY HUMAN IS A MULTIMEDIA BEING 

Technological development has incorporated media into our everyday life as an integral part thereof. We already express ourselves through social networks, document our lives using photos and videos, and follow different kinds of media content simultaneously – image, text, music. Simply put, the modern era is the age of multimedia.

It is also the age of continual change. For the students at Multimedia, the current environment presents artists with exciting challenges rather than difficulties. Learning about individual expressive media, their possibilities and limitations, and the potential of multimedia creation, they acquire knowledge and skills required for the art world and the creative industries alike.

What next?

Upon completion of their studies at FCA’s Multimedia program, our students are able to provide creative responses to today’s challenges. Their domain is not limited to art; it includes the wide and profitable area of creative industries.

The understanding of the circumstances in which one creates is a prerequisite of success; an artist trained for multimedia work is ready to conquer, design and create space for own action. It is a daring, creative and innovative artist, soundly supported by the knowledge and skills acquired at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts.

 

ADDITIONAL SKILL PACKAGES FOR ARTISTS WHO WANT MORE

In addition to working on developing the talent for visual expression through a variety of organized extracurricular activities, the sculpting students can choose additional course packages.

Packages include courses from the Personal Development Program, whose goal is the acquisition of business-oriented skills and 4 additional courses of the student’s own choice. The skills that you can master as sculpting students at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts include photo and video editing courses in: Photoshop, 3D Max Modeling, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, etc. You can also become acquainted with the basics of web design and learn the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, work in Dreamweaver and much more.
