The film of Predrag Gaga Antonijević, Dara of Jasenovac, sparked strong opinions among the viewers. One of the main roles in this film which deals with the suffering of Serbian civilians in the concentration camps during WWII was played by Ana Lečić, a student of the Master’s acting program at FCA.
She was terrifying as Božica, one of the three female supervisors of the Stara Gradiška concentration camp. The horrible scenes she had to play and witness while on set were hard on her, especially scenes where she had to yell at children.
That was the hardest part for me. I kept telling them that I love them behind the camera, that all of it was make-believe and not real. I read a lot about this topic before filming, and talked with historians. It is good that such a film has finally been made, because we must learn from history and make sure such horrific events never happen again – says Ana Lečić about her role.
She came to the spotlight in the Debt to the Sea TV show
The young actress enrolled in the acting program at FCA in 2017, in the class of Professor Vida Ognjenović, and she currently attends Master’s studies. The wider audience first noticed her in the TV show Debt to the Sea where she also played one of the main roles.
