Annual FCA academic conference: “The Problem of Interpretation”

/ / News / 6. 09. 2021.

We are pleased to inform you that the Faculty of Contemporary Arts is continuing the good practice we started last fall. FCA is organizing an academic conference “The Problem of Interpretation”. We are deeply honored to welcome you to the conference that will take place on November 27, 2021 at FCA (12 Svetozara Miletića Street, Belgrade).

“The Problem of Interpretation” is a one-day conference designed to present this problem from different theoretical perspectives.

The interpretation of a work of art or media/cultural content entails the assumption that the recipient will attribute certain meanings or messages to it. These understandings, assumptions and interpretations may or may not coincide with the author’s initial intentions. And even though intellectual tendencies were prone to favor different approaches to interpretation in different periods, this is a dilemma that keeps inviting us to think with its nuances and different perspectives.

Taking into account the relevance and importance of the problem in question, FCA’s Program Committee placed the problem of interpretation at the heart of their second annual academic conference.

A monograph of selected works

Based on a selection of submitted works, we will prepare a monograph and proceedings in English.

Taking into account your work so far, we invite you to take part in the conference and contribute to its success.

Here you can download the Letter of Invitation with all the necessary information about the conference. Participants are required to fill in the application form not later than October 1, 2021. FCA teachers are exempt from paying the registration fee.
