On Thursday, January 26, from 5 p.m., the second-year students of Master’s studies of Acting will perform the play “Three Sisters – Women’s Discourse”, in classroom 203 at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (12 Svetozara Miletića Street).

- Olga Prozorov – Jana Salamadić;
- Maša Prozorov – Rea Memić;
- Irina Prozorov – Natalija Žugić;
- Natalija Ivanovna – Jelena Stojković;
- Anfisa – Maša Pantić.
Engagement and Women’s Discourse in Anton Chekhov’s monumental work
The aim of this play is to examine the relationships, ideas, characters’ personalities and elements of the conflict in the smaller sections of the play that are treated as a whole. The focus is on engagement and women’s discourse in this famous drama in which three sisters are victims, innocent of the new civic behavior. They are struggling, each in her own way, with how to manage and solve their problems. The field of acting research is primarily the position of the three sisters and their loyal maids, that is, their survival between the realistic bleakness of the small town and the poeticized dream of returning to Moscow.
The life they want to come back to with all of their heart no longer exists outside their fragile memory, and it is slowly starting to fade even from their memory. However, the dream of returning to Moscow makes them completely unprepared for imminent changes around them. Living in an imbalance between the previous civil status and current unstable revenues, they do not feel a new view of the world, which is controlled by their sister-in-law Nataša, a woman of new trends and new energy. There is no place for sentimental memories in that new world, and even less for empty dreams about them. The rise of Nataša and their defeat, in the end, leads the three sisters to find out the important fact that the most important thing in life is to determine goals and ways of how to achieve them.
Come and see the performance of our talented Master’s students on January 26 at 5 p.m. at FCA.
