How to become a part of the new generation of artists?

Talent, preparedness and motivation of the candidates who would like to study at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts are assessed at the entrance exam, which is specific for each department and each program. It is an opportunity for you to showcase your potential and gift which you will develop during the studies.

You are eligible for the entrance exam if you have finished a four-year high school, or if you have completed at least two years of high school and pass the qualification exam.

Preparation for the entrance exam

At the Faculty of Contemporary Arts, you have an opportunity to prepare for the entrance exam free of charge and show your talent in the right way at the exam itself. You have an unlimited number of consultations with the teachers at your disposal; make the most of them. Undergraduate studies

At the entrance exam, the candidate spends 3 school periods working a portrait or nude study in charcoal on paper and 3 periods od still life in acryl or tempera. The submission of a map with works is mandatory.

Duration: 1 day, 6 school periods

Master studies

The entrance exam for the master studies consists of:

  • submitting the portfolio, maps and letter of motivation,
  • conversation with the mentor.

Doctoral studies

The entrance exam for doctoral studies consists of:

  • submitting the portfolio, map, letter of motivation and thesis proposal,
  • conversation with the mentor.

Undergraduate studies:

At the entrance exam, the candidate spends 3 classes (periods) working on a task on interior for the purpose of spatial comprehension assessment (perspective, proportional relations).

Duration: 1 day, 3 school period

Master studies:

The entrance exam entails submitting a map with up to 10 works in applied arts and an interview.

The entrance exam consists of two parts: Candidates first take a drawing exam, and then the vocational segment of the exam. The candidate is given a topic and does a professional task from graphic design – poster, book or logo. Submitting a map with works is mandatory.

CONSULTATIONS AND PREPARATION

Consultations with the candidates in cooperation with the enrollment center are held with costume design professors via email.
Preparation for candidates who have applied and enrolled will take place in the costume studio at FCA. Preparatory lessons are not mandatory; they are held for candidates who have enrolled at this department and would like to ensure the best possible preparation for the entrance exam.

ENTRANCE EXAM

  1. Map (portfolio) is mandatory and should contain 30–50 sketches in format(s) of the candidate’s choice.
    Minimum 40% of the works included therein should be costume sketches or fashion drawings, while 60% should contain drawings such as still life, model studies – figure studies, portraits, croquis, small drawings, paintings. Each sketch should be signed in the lower right corner.
    Entrance exam:
  2.  Drawing: At the entrance exam, the candidate makes a charcoal on paper still life drawing within three school periods (135 minutes).
  3.  Vocational segment: Producing two color sketches on A4 paper based on given coloristic inspiration: fashion sketch and scenic costume, using a technique of candidate’s choice. The duration of the vocational segment of the entrance exam is two hours.

Candidates should bring the following to the entrance exam for the vocational segment: A4 papers or a No. 4 stack of papers, drawing equipment (graphite pencils, eraser), colors of choice (wooden colored pencils, marking pens, pastels, watercolors, tempera, etc.).

Undergraduate studies

The entrance exam for acting takes 2 DAYS.

A candidate who would like to take an entrance exam for undergraduate academic studies of ACTING must prepare the following for the first day:

  • DRAMATIC MONOLOG (free choice from national and foreign classical and contemporary dramatic literature),
  • COMEDIC MONOLOG (free choice from national and foreign classical and contemporary dramatic literature)
  • RECITATION (free choice of a poem from national or foreign poetry),
  • IMITATION (imitation of a person from the public realm or the candidate’s immediate environment).

On the second day of the exam, the candidates show their stage abilities through:

  • STAGE DANCES
  • STAGE COMBAT AND ACROBATICS
  • STAGE MOVEMENT

Master studies

The entrance exam for master studies consists of submitting a portfolio and candidate’s presentation through:

  • dramatic dialog,
  • comedic dialog,
  • recitation,
  • imitation and
  • improvisation.

Doctoral studies

The entrance exam for doctoral studies consists of:

  • submitting a letter of motivation,
  • conversation with the mentor.

General knowledge test and essay on a given subject.

Duration: 1 day, 2 school periods

The candidates who would like to enroll into Music Production take a general knowledge test, write an essay on a given subject and have an interview with a professor.

Duration: One day, two school periods.

The candidates who would like to enroll into Creative Communications and Content Creation take a general knowledge test, write an essay on a given subject and have an interview with a professor.

Duration: One day, two school periods.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAM

  • application (available at the Faculty),
  • high school certificates and diploma,
  • birth certificate,
  • proof of payment of the entrance exam fee (40–85 euros depending on the department).

Faculty of Contemporary Arts recognizes passed entrance exams from other faculties.

WHEN DO THE ENTRANCE EXAMS TAKE PLACE?

To ensure better organization and better assessment of the candidates’ abilities, the entrance exams are held in smaller groups and take place several times during exam periods.

You can start your studies at FCA as soon as you finish the second year of high school

There is a way to enroll at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts as soon as you finish the second year of high school. Regardless of the school where you have finished the first two years of secondary education, you have the option of taking the qualification exams and starting the first year of studies at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts with the new generation of your colleagues, young artists.

Depending on the department where you would like to study, you take qualification exams in literature, visual arts culture, or write an essay on a given topic.

After the second year of high school the candidates take:

  • Literature Test 3 and Test 4,
  • Visual Arts Culture Test.

After the third year of secondary school, the candidates take:

  • Literature Test 4,
  • Visual Arts Culture Test.

After the second year of high school the candidates take:

  • Literature Test 3 and Test 4,
  • Visual Arts Culture Test.

After the third year of secondary school, the candidates take:

  • Literature Test 4,
  • Visual Arts Culture Test.

After the second year of high school the candidates take:

Each test contains 10 questions. You have passed the test if you have the following numbers of correct answers:

  • 6 answers – mark 2 (pass),
  • 7 answers – mark 3 (good),
  • 8 answers – mark 4 (very good),
  • 9 and 10 answers – mark 5 (excellent).
