Second and third-year students from the Faculty of Contemporary Arts represented Serbia at an international youth training in Tirana. Tamara Rodić, Tamara Krdžić, Katarina Marjanović, and Ivana Lješković spent seven days in the capital of Albania as part of the “Behave Your Prints” project.
This gathering was organized by the association “Beyond Barriers” from Albania, which compiled a program of various activities held from March 13 to 19. The main topics were digital footprint and creating new jobs to keep up with the development of today’s high-tech society. Our students presented and participated in panels on numerous current topics such as digital activism, information theft and sharing, responsible behavior on the internet, new professions emerging from the internet’s development, and more.
Among the numerous activities organized during these five days, the most important ones were the interactive workshops. Participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge and share ideas with each other through socializing and conversation. The workshops were diverse and included activities such as writing poems, acting, and even dancing. “I was surprised by the activity where we were tasked with writing a poem related to the workshop topic, and my group drew the rap genre. It may sound impossible to portray the dangers of the digital footprint through rhyme, but somehow, we managed to do it”, said Katarina.
AMONG THE NUMEROUS ACTIVITIES, THERE WERE ALSO THOSE CLOSELY RELATED TO THE FUTURE PROFESSIONS OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND THE FIELDS THEY STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY
Ivana found it extremely interesting to see how other young people think. “One of the activities was writing news about the training in collaboration with other participants. Considering our differences and the fact that we had to communicate in English, it was challenging. However, in the end, we found a common language, which surprisingly wasn’t English but understanding and patience”.
“One of the tasks was a simulation of a talk show, and I got the role of a journalist representing my editorial team, asking questions to the guests. This is something I completely identified with and enjoyed the most”, said Tamara Krdžić.
Students from five other countries also participated in the conference, giving our students the opportunity not only to acquire new knowledge but also to meet their peers from Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic.
Tamara Rodić believes that the diversity of participants was one of the key factors: “Thanks to our knowledge of the different countries we come from, we could compare the problems we face, and in that way, we connected. I hope there will be more projects like this in the future because I believe we, the youth, are the voice of reason in today’s digital world”.
Tamara Krdžić believes that such projects are very important for all students: “If such an opportunity arises again, of course, I would like to participate. I suggest everyone who gets the chance to participate in such a program definitely accept it”.
“I am grateful for the knowledge gained, but I was immensely happy with the friends I made while working with these people for seven days. It’s incredible how on the first day, we were all weird and different to each other, and by the last day, we all realized how similar we actually are”, said Katarina.
All participants believe that such projects are not only useful for professional development but also for connecting with people they would never have met otherwise. Getting closer to others is what makes this training a unique opportunity which is not to be missed.
