During the last week of May, as part of the course Contemporary Architecture and Design attended by second-year Interior Design students, FCA organized a tour of the famous blocks of Novi Beograd. The tour was led by Associate Professor Dr. Aleksandar Kušić.

Students visited several blocks of Novi Beograd:

  • Block 19a (architects: Lojanica, Cagić, Jovanović, and Marić; design and construction period: 1975–1982);
  • Block 21 (architects: Čanak, Mitić, Lenarčić, Petrović, Ignjatović, and Kabiljo; 1962–1966);
  • Blocks 22 and 23 (architects: Janković, Karadžić, and Stjepanović; 1968–1979).

The students had the opportunity to see objects representing the legacy of developed and late modernism, with special attention given to examples of brutalism, characteristic of blocks 22 and 23.

STUDENTS ACQUIRED VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE PLAN AND DESIGN OF NOVI BEOGRAD BLOCKS

During the visit, discussions were held on the planning and design of Novi Beograd blocks, the ambience within residential units, construction systems, and the organization of apartments. The atmosphere from the walk and interesting details were captured in the photographs by Anja Aničić and Anđela Ćosić, students of the Faculty of Contemporary Arts.
