The call is open for young artists between 18 and 35 years of age from Serbia, Western Balkans and Europe who would like their voices to be heard through art. All artists ready to express their own vision of the European future through street art, mindful of socially engaged topics, are welcome.
The call is open from February 25 through March 18. Fill in the application form here.
Artist in residence – opportunity to learn and develop ideas and thinking
This contest is an important opportunity for Visual Arts Department students, who can win a place in the Artist in residence program as guest artists at one of the year’s most attractive destinations, the city that proudly holds the title of the European Capital of Culture. This is bound to be a memorable time for them, and an opportunity to meet many peers, exchange experiences and ideas, and expand their knowledge.
Eight artists will be chosen to join their creative forces to paint the wall at the Quay of the Victims of the Raid during their stay in Novi Sad from April 18 through May 9; the mural will be unveiled on the last day of their stay in this year’s Capital of Culture, as a part of Europe Day celebration.
The artists who would like to participate in the “Paint Me the Future of Europe” initiative are invited to fill in the application form and submit their short biography and their portfolio, along with a sketch of their vision for the contest topic using this link: futureofeurope.newmoment.com, where they can learn more about the participation in this initiative, and find instructions and information regarding the preparation and painting of the mural.
The selected artists will receive accommodation, a surprise lecture, as well as an adequate reimbursement during the unfolding of this creative initiative.
The applications will be reviewed by a distinguished jury, presided by Lazar Sakan, the creator and curator of the New Moment Gallery, the home of hundreds of important exhibitions and cultural events over the last 12 years.
The jury also comprises Dr. Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, director of the Gallery of Matica Srpska, conceptual artist Nikola Džafo and two representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia.
Good luck at the contest!
