Dušanka Komnenić graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade. She pursued postgraduate degrees in the USA, at Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts , where she earned her doctorate. She has taught at several art faculties in the USA. The areas of her artistic interest include: aesthetics and anti-aesthetics, modernism, beauty, abstraction, (non)figuration.

She has shown her work at more than 20 solo exhibitions and over 30 collective exhibitions in Serbia and abroad. She participated in several art colonies. Her output is best described using the vocabulary of experimentation.
