Stevan Aleksić is a renowned Serbian visual artist. During and after his studies, Aleksić worked on numerous projects in film, television, and theater. He has 18 years of experience in teaching. He has collaborated with prominent Yugoslav and Serbian scenographers such as Miljen Kljaković Kreka, Aleksandar Denić, Mladen Lisavac, Žak Kukić, Vlastimir Gavrik, and Jasna Dragović. Besides scenography and spatial concept art for films, he has been successfully illustrating film posters for many years. Since his student days, he has been interested in both traditional and digital illustration, especially for film posters. As a child, he was fascinated by posters hanging in old cinemas. Inspired by great professionals, he started a project to give new life to classics of Yugoslav and Serbian cinema. He is dedicated to creating film posters that exude the aesthetics of the old school while combining his “retro” vision with the modern approach offered by the digital era. To date, he has illustrated over 200 film posters. Since 2022, he has been illustrating covers for Blu-Ray and DVD Mediabooks, exclusive editions of cult American films for the German market. He has illustrated over 30 covers for the German company “Retro Gold 63”. Stevan’s work is recognized and praised by major authors of the Serbian film industry, as well as some international directors and actors. The action film star Jean-Claude Van Damme has frequently shared the posters and covers Stevan illustrated for his cult films on his official websites, publicly praising him. Stevan continually collaborates with Van Damme. Over twenty of Stevan’s illustrated posters for Hollywood films are featured on the globally renowned British site AMP – Alternative Movie Posters, a world treasure of alternative, illustrated film posters, where he has won two awards. Through the distributor MCF Megacom Film, the exclusive representative of the Hollywood studio “Disney” and the Disney brand “Pixar”, he was chosen as one of ten world artists to illustrate posters counting down to the premiere of Disney’s animated film “Lightyear” (2022). The poster was presented by Disney worldwide. Stevan’s artistic work has been widely recognized. He has given numerous interviews to domestic media, and appeared on various shows on different channels, including national television. Stevan’s illustrations are owned by notable figures in Yugoslav and Serbian cinema: Dejan Karaklajić, Dragan Bjelogrlić, Nikola Kojo, Joca Jovanović, Zoran Amar, Predrag Perišić, Bojana Maljević, Milena Radulović, Đorđe Kadijević, Milovan Vitezović, Darko Bajić, Katarina Radivojević, and many others. Besides being a professor, set designer, and illustrator, Stevan has long been involved in acting, directing, editing, and creative writing. Stevan is preparing his first collection of stories about his childhood in a country that no longer exists, about the 1980s, the products of that era, and the people who marked it. He has spent a decade documenting highly personal stories that depict the recent past through family history, delving into some of the constitutive elements of Yugoslav mythology. In collaboration with special effects, film makeup, and mask artist Miroslav Lakobrija, and as a member of the association “Mladi Kadrovi”, he has created a number of independent films for short film festivals held in countries across the former Yugoslavia. He has received many awards for short forms. For many years, he was an active member of the creative team of the Festival of Serbian Fantastic Film, the creator of the Festival’s visual identity and awards. Aleksić has a large number of solo exhibitions to his name (MTS Hall, ŠTAB Gallery, UK Parobrod, Yugoslav Film Archive, Cultural Center Pančevo, Gallery of the Municipality of Vračar).

I am engaged in new projects, reflecting my passion and dedication to art. I am currently preparing a major solo exhibition of illustrated film posters and covers that I created for the German market, which is just one example of my artistic practice.

In addition, I am slowly finishing my first collection of stories about childhood, about a country that no longer exists, about the eighties of the last century. This book is eagerly awaited in hardcover by all who follow my page Stevanova Beležnica on Instagram, where I already have 30 thousand followers. This great support from the audience testifies to my ability to reach a wide audience with my artistic works and creative projects. I have frequently appeared on shows on Radio Television of Serbia (Jutarnji Program, Beogradska Hronika), N1 Television (Tri Tačke kod Ivane Zarić), as well as TV Prva (Jutro na Prvoj), Una Television, and Insider Television, and on the airwaves of Radio Belgrade and Radio Novi Sad. Interviews with me have been published several times by newspapers such as Politika, Politikin dodatak – Magazin, Novosti, Srpski Telegraf, Kurir, Danas, as well as Bloomberg Adria magazine, Serbian Times, Rebelgrade, Premium Serbia, Original Magazine, Oblakoder, Politikin Bazar, and many others.
