The best Art students from the FCA as participants of the Art Camp “Nature & Art”

Last week, Osečina was a place where art was created. Art students from the FCA were participants of the art camp “Nature & Art” that lasted for seven days. A total of seven of the best students of painting, completing their bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral studies, spent time in nature and created works of art that are the result of the connection between artistic and natural processes.

“NATURE & ART” – THE CONNECTION BETWEEN ARTISTIC AND NATURAL PROCESSES

The goal of the “Nature & Art” project is to examine the possibility of a connection between natural and artistic processes through various artistic practices. Over time, the project expanded to all other human activities and posed the question of how to connect natural processes with sociological, technological and economic processes.
The idea that the camp had in mind was for young artists to spend time in nature and isolate themselves from their usual milieu of creation, which is mostly in urban areas. By moving to nature, a completely new world opens up before them. Everything changes, because the creation of a work of art arises in dialogue with a new, natural environment and from natural materials.

WORKSHOPS AT WHICH PROJECTS WERE PRESENTED

Osečina, a place known for the Plum Fair and untouched nature, was chosen as the location where the camp took place. The artists had one week to create and present their works of art. With the help of the organisers, young artists conducted workshops where they presented their concepts and actively participated in conversations with other participants of the colony and the local population.
This project was designed in such a way as to enable the creation of works of art from materials found in nature. The goal is to re-examine the concept that can be defined as “painting with nature”. When we say “painting with nature”, it implies all media of contemporary art that implement this way of thinking through artistic practice.
